Cardio Workout Routines

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Most people perform inefficient cardio workout routines. It is no wonder that so many experts have said recently that cardio is NOT an effective way to lose body fat. It isn’t that cardio is a bad way to lose body fat, it is simply that people are doing it in a strategic manner. If you want to get to low single digit body fat percentages, then this cardio workout routine will do the trick.

1) Don’t Touch any Calories 4-5 Hours Leading Up to Your Cardio Workout

You can eat a little or a light meal before cardio if you have a lot of weight to lose. If you are trying to get below 8% body fat, then you don’t have that luxury! You have to force your body to burn fat once you begin to creep to a lower body fat percentage. One way to force your body to burn off fat for fuel is to have every little bit of “food energy” out of your system. Don’t worry about muscle loss. Your body will produce a large spike in HGH when training in a fasted state. This will spare muscle while burning even more body fat after the workout.

2) Do Intense Interval Training for 10-15 Minutes

When you begin your cardio workout make sure you first begin by performing intense intervals. What this does is trigger HGH release and more importantly it releases fatty acids into the bloodstream. Intense intervals are much better at releasing fat from your fat cells, then slower steady cardio. Slower cardio is better at using these fatty acids for energy, which is why you will want to do this next.

Reasons Why You Should Take Up Running

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Have you ever thought that running is a waste of time? Or do you ever think running is not a good exercise, and think other exercises (such as weight lifting) are much better and healthier? Well if you think that way, here are 3 reasons why it isn’t a waste of time and why you should take up running!

1. Running is the most efficient exercise for your body

Running is the most efficient exercise for your body because when you run, you are exercising your heart, lungs, bowels, immune, lymphatic and neurological system. All these systems are activating and exercising when you run which also makes these systems stronger. More systems are in use compared to other exercises such as weight. With weights, you are just exercising one specific group of muscles, but with running, you exercise multiple groups of muscles plus other organ systems.

2. Reduces your cholesterol

When you run, your body helps to increase the removal of cholesterol from your body by burning it and digesting it away from your cardiovascular system. This will help your arteries and veins be clear of any blockages and plaques so your blood can move more smoothly throughout your body.

Tips Bodybuilders Could Use

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Bodybuilders devote a lot of time to building up their body, but they seem to have the same kind of problem that ordinary people have when it comes to developing the muscles of the abdomen. 6 pack abs are vital to a body builder because without them, his body will not look balanced. However, building 6 pack abs requires extra effort.

Most bodybuilders spend a lot of effort on strength training and hardly enough on cardio. This is the reason why they have difficulty getting 6 pack abs. The body is designed to store a lot of fat on the abdominal area, and if there is any excess fat on a person’s body quite naturally finds its way there.

Bodybuilders therefore have to do a lot of cardio if they wish to develop 6 pack abs. They have to run for at least 30 minutes and that too every day. Anything less than that will give less than impressive results. Of course, they can vary the routine and include different types of cardio exercises so that they get a lot of benefit from it. This will result in all excess fat being burnt away allowing the abdominal muscles to show through.

Ways to Make Aerobic Exercise Fun

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Aerobic exercise is a great way to lose weight, improve your mental state, and is excellent for your heart as well. But it can get very boring. Sitting on an exercise machine or walking or running on a tread mill gets boring very fast for many of us. Here are a few ways to make aerobic exercise fun, less boring, and easier.

1) Watch TV. I’m not a big TV watcher, but watching is a great way to pass the time. For example I’ve been watching rock documentaries at the gym while on the treadmill lately.

2) Read. You can’t always read, for example if running or biking, but I did a fair amount of reading last winter while on an exercise bike.

3) Join a class. Many people greatly enjoy aerobics classes and wouldn’t consider doing it any other way. Also if you’ve signed up for a class you are less likely to skip it.

Struggling With a Healthy Balance

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

One of the things that I find the hardest about getting the “right” amount of omega fatty acids in my diet is that I feel like the information is constantly changing. When I first learned about omega fatty acids, I figured that any old omega 3 supplement would keep me healthy. So I bought one off the shelf and started taking it.

Not too long after that, I learned that most omega 3 supplements don’t really have the right kinds of omega fatty acids, and that fish oil supplements may not even contain the right kinds of fish oil! They could have sardine oil or other types of fish oil that might have some omega but that do not really have enough omega 3s or the right molecular forms. So I did some more research, and I found a great salmon oil supplement that has been certified toxin-free (a big deal since tuna and mackerel often contain traces of heavy metals and other pollutants) and that has been molecularly optimized so that it only contains the best forms of omega fatty acids for my body.
